Cirque Du Eden presents: 2! A dancing elephant sideshow. (pt. 1)
On December 10, 2009, after a particularly tumultuous year I gave birth to a teenie tiny 4lb 4oz spitfire who is a superstar in her own right. Everyday we’re treated to performances that rival Ringling Brothers’ best show. So when it came time to choose a theme for my baby girl with the larger than life personality, nothing was more fitting than pink dancing elephants.
The design for the party actually started with the idea that Eden was the ringmaster in her own spectacular sideshow. We needed a poster to advertise her one day performance and for that we needed wardrobe and a photo shoot. I contacted Rachelle of Isadora because we’ve purchased several of her beautiful pieces and I knew her style would be exactly in line with what I was looking for.
Next I booked a shoot with the uber talented Aisha of Jazzy Photos. Our original plan was rained out but Eden and Aisha made magic in the studio .
Once we selected photos, I shared the concept with graphic designer GeanieP who provided the perfect Elephant and brought the poster to life.
Printed on 100# stock with a pearlized finish, the 11×17 invitation poster was so perfect I didn’t want to crease it for mailing. So after a bit of USPS research, I went with a mailing tube.

I designed a label that would wrap completely around the 12″ long X 3″ diameter tube and introduce Ellie the pink elephant and the chevron strips that would be used throughout the party.
Once the invitations made it into the mail, it was time to start prepping the elephants for the show.
I’ll be sharing more party details in the next post!
